The Colombian coastline has long been shunned by tourists, too often associated with the violence of drug cartels. Yet in 2016, there were nearly 3 million travellers to explore it. And for good reason… The only country in South America both bordered by the Caribbean Sea (over 1,600 km) and by the Pacific Ocean (over 1,300 km), Colombia concentrates an exceptional biodiversity and melting pot on its coastline.
2900 km of coastline, from the thick jungle of the El Choco region on the border with Panama, to the Sierra Nevada, the highest coastal mountain in the world, the Colombian coast is also home to the third largest barrier reef in the planet in the Archipelago of San Andrés and a whole life immersed in the largest swamps in the country.
